Privacy Policy

Effective September 27, 2026. This policy describes the current GI Daily beta.

What we collect and why

You can play without an account. We assign this browser a random identifier to save answers, clues, and streaks. If you sign in, we receive your email address and an account identifier to send sign-in links and preserve progress across devices.

We save your selected answers, correctness, confidence, score, clues, elapsed time, completion date, and timezone. We record first-party visits, starts, completions, confidence selections, clue use, sharing actions, and return visits to understand usage and improve questions. These records are linked to your browser or account identifier. They are pseudonymous, not fully anonymous.

We do not request patient information. Please do not include it in feedback. Feedback is sent through your email service; we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send.

Cookies and browser storage

A first-party guest cookie lasts up to one year and identifies saved browser progress. Sign-in cookies maintain your session. Browser storage remembers your last visit and a small result summary. Clearing site data removes those browser records and can remove access to guest progress; it does not delete records already stored on our servers.

We do not use advertising trackers. Our current analytics are part of GI Daily itself.

Who processes the data

GI Daily runs on Vercel. Supabase provides our database and authentication, with an email delivery provider for sign-in messages. These services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, and operational or security logs. Authorized GI Daily administrators can access stored data to operate the service and resolve issues.

Individual answers and email addresses are not displayed publicly. Community answer summaries appear only after the configured minimum response count. Sharing a result is your choice. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

AI services assist with drafting and checking educational content. Our content-generation workflow does not send your email, account information, individual performance, or feedback messages to the AI provider. Source links take you to independent sites with their own privacy practices.

Retention and your choices

We retain saved progress and account data while needed to provide the service, unless removed following a request. The beta currently has no automatic expiry for stored progress or analytics and no self-service account-deletion button. Signing out does not delete your account or saved results.

You can request access, correction, or deletion through our contact page. We may ask you to verify account ownership before acting. Guest records require identifying the original browser; clearing its cookie can prevent us from finding those records. Provider logs and backups may persist according to the providers’ retention practices.

The service is intended for adult physicians, trainees, and other clinicians. It is not intended for children under 18. Please contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information.

Questions or changes

GI Daily is operated by the GI Daily team. Use our contact page for privacy requests. We will update the effective date when this policy changes. We will communicate material changes to data use before applying them where required.
